Inspired by
Wobbles the Mind
, here’s a ‘Dream Garage’ challenge for Oppo.
I’ll keep things simple, here are the rules:
You have a three vehicle garage...
The first car must be Japanese ; but it cannot be made by Toyota, Honda or Nissan.
The second car must be American ; but it cannot be made by General Motors, Ford or Mopar.
The third car must be German ; but it cannot be made by BMW, Daimler-Benz or Volkswagen AG.
I’m looking forward to some creative ideas, have fun~

I had that thought as well, but Ruf is an independent manufacturer, and Porsche was outside (but sitting on the beach next to) the VWAG umbrella at the time so I figured it gets a pass.

You would expect them to do a terminal update like for instance apple does on old devices, killing of certain features in order to keep the device usable.

Really fun exercise
as always! Limiting manufacturers was a brilliant idea. I had a really hard time with German cars, since pretty much everything is owned by VAG these days. I also chose three of each.
Japan
: Suzuki Whizzkid, Mazda Cosmo 110S, Suzuki Hustler
America
: AMC Pacer, Studebaker Commander Starliner, Cord L-29 Speedster
Germany
: Weismann Roadster, Artega GT, Goggomobil Transporter TL T400

For some reason no one has said it yet, so I’ll put this here:
JP : Mazda Eunos Cosmo JC
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well, I love their looks and I’ve always wanted one, preferably with the 4.2L I6:
US : AMC Eagle Wagon
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I was going to be cheeky and have an Alpina, but then I realized Opel exists:
DE: Opel Lotus Omega
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Here’s a few you forgot about:
French
(
besides Peugeot, Citroen, Renault
)
This very, very pretty PRV powered monster:
FR : Venturi Atlantique
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Swedish (besides Volvo, Saab, Koenigsegg)
An amalgam of Saab and Volvo parts it may be but it counts in my book:
SE : Josse Indigo 3000
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Italy (anything not part of FCA)
I just love my supercars with turbodiesel I5s:
IT : Covini T40 Overboost
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Britain (besides former BL and GM)
These things are just too cute and deserve more time in the spotlight:
GB : Ginetta G40R
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’m skipping South Korea and China since for the former anything not mainstream is tragic and for the latter there basically is no ‘big three’ since it’s still developing industrially.

Thank you for choosing the Cosmo, one of my all time favourite cars.
I was thinking of putting those other exact countries you mentioned in the OP - I simply didn’t include them to keep things simpler. Great choices either way though.
There might be something half-decent from South Korea too, but only if Mercedes-Benz sourced SsanYongs are good enough.
Amoore100
> RT
08/15/2016 at 17:10 | 0 |
Indeed, one of mine too. Nothing beats a three-rotor Wankel.
Haha, maybe next time then! I have plenty more of choices where those come from ;)
I considered Ssangyong but it’s altogether too close to Mercedes outside of the hideous Actyon and Rodius...perhaps the Musso is a reasonable choice?

Or you could continue going along the re-badge path. Daewoo has some gems.
There’s plenty of unexpected Daewoo re-badges - but it’s probably better for you to search for them yourself so you can make a ‘Ridiculous Rebadges’ post on them.

True haha but I personally consider Daewoo one of Korea’s ‘Big Three’ so to speak since it’s been so involved with GM over the years and its cars have been sold all over the world!
Amoore100

08/15/2016 at 23:39 | 1 |
Now that’s pretty awesome! Reminds me a lot of the Venturi Atlantique actually since their layouts are similar and both use comparatively common V6s (the Spirra uses the Delta out of the Sonata and Trajet)
